Modern Hymnals....

Spring is in the air here in New York City and we're awakening from our winter hibernation.  We've been quiet for the past few months, hibernating and ruminating, and for good reason.

Earlier this year we joined independent record label Modern Hymnal Recordings and we're super excited to be a part of this.  They're a cool label who believe "the recorded sound is our modern hymnal, and we are preachers of that gospel."  Preach!

On tap is a deluxe version of City Life - The Five Borough Edition - with a couple of brand new tracks and remixes.  Look for it to drop in June on Modern Hymnal but in the meantime download the free "Whatever Man" single here.  Click on the screaming lioness.

New vid 2011 send off...

Hey everyone!

Happy upcoming holidays to you!  2011 was a good year for Like So.  The City Life EP was released, played a lot of fun shows during the year with many cool bands and now we get to end the year with a new video for "Whatever Man".

Fall in New York City saw the birth of Occupy Wall Street as I'm sure you know.  Director Josh Smith and I already had a plot for it in mind for this video: a poor boy meets well off girl kinda story.  Josh suggested we set the story in and around OWS.  It seemed fitting and I thought I'd be a different kind of way to document what the movement was at that time.  This was filmed before the eviction in November.  What we saw down there was inspiring and hopeful.  Here's to the rebirth of people power in 2011 and let's look for more of it in 2012.

Like So on The Really Tho Show

This past Thursday Like So was the inaugural interviewee for the "Come Up Artist" segment on The Really Tho Show hosted by Kay-Bee on Blog Talk Radio.  I talk about the EP, influences and contribute some commentary on some very funny, off-beat news.  Click the link to listen and/or download.

Just because....

Poverty should go to hell, but that goes without saying right?  This song and performance is also very dope.

LPN Radio - the Urban Alternative

Check out LPN Radio. I recently came across this station.  They play a lot of great rock fronted by Black and Brown folk.  Like So’s “City Life” is in rotation on show #42. Sweet mix!

Rest in peace Amy....

I'm feeling a combination of sadness and anger at the news of Amy Winehouse's death.  We hear of celebrities passing young a lot these days, but this one is hitting me harder than others.  I guess mainly because she was such a great talent, brilliant songwriter and singer.  That's the sadness I feel, that we won't be blessed with that anymore.  She's another artist who seemed to be chewed up and spit out by the fame machine.  That's the anger I feel, that she couldn't be helped.  Her voice will be missed.  I hope she's at peace now...

A six pack, some wine, and a rooftop..

Makes for good times on a sunny, spring NYC day.  On April 30th we spent a beautiful afternoon filming shots for a City Life video.  Good times were had by all.  Many thanks to director Josh Smith.

And I have no business being on this little thing, but what the hey...

We like Genesis....

So we're hanging out in rehearsal one day and the in between songs conversation turns to our mutual love of Genesis.  We decided we'd attempt one of our favorites, "Back In N.Y.C." from the Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.  We busted that one out at last show at The Trash Bar here in Brooklyn and I don't think we did too bad!

I'm also so excited to let you know the EP will be available for sale here May 10th.  Finally!!

Nearing warmth....

Like So has been busy this late winter playing shows all through Williamsburg.  The 'burg tour if you will.  We have some footage from our last show at Bar Matchless you can check HERE.

We also got some love from DJ MOJO who is not only one of the best promotors to bands in town but also has a show on Break Thru Radio, Maximum Music.  He kicked off his show with "City Life."  Check out out HERE for lots of music goodness...

On a cold and wintry night...

We played to a few brave and happy souls who stayed out late to party in the basement of the Delancey.  Thanks to all who came out.  My friend Ebedet took a few pics.
